One of the questions I get asked a lot is about what do we do with all the photos we take. The question usually isn’t about the business side but about all the personal photos we take as well. See, I usually have a camera with me almost every where we go and the people that know me, know that if they are going to the same place that Michelle and I are going to then they don’t have to bring there camera if they don’t want to because I will be there snapping pictures left and right :-) The comment I hear most from others and their digital photos is that the pictures they take are usually still on the camera and/or they did take the time to load them onto a computer but there they sit… never to be seen again.
Since turning to digital back in late 2004, my wife and I have taken (and archived) over 55,000 photos (average of about 700 photos a month at last count). Fortunately, my wife and I are a little on the geeky side and have more then our fair share of computers around the house. Everyone of them has the screen saver set up to randomly scroll through our large photo library. Everyday we get to see our photos and every day we smile (and laugh) as the pictures pop up.
We have taken it up a notch recently when we purchased Apple TV. Last weekend I actually had time to sit down and play with it a bit and was able to set up the Apple TV module to access our photo library and display all our photos (just like a computer screen saver). I even purchased a program called AirFoil which let’s us access our Pandora account and play music (with no commercials) through the Apple TV set up which means while our photos are jump’n onto the flat panel screen the music is pumping through Bose entertainment system. I must of sat there for about 2 hours the first night with the music cranked, just watching all the fun we have had through all the memories we capture with our cameras… it was great!
So bottom line, get the photos off the camera and onto the computers and set your computer screen saver up to show off your photos. Or you can also do what my wife does which is a little old school. Michelle occasionally will go back through some of our great events and have them printed up. When we get the photos back, she puts them all into photo albums. We have it all covered :-)
