Kathryn and Jason Engagement Session
Now this was a good time. Kathryn and Jason called us a while back to set up an engagement photo shoot. When it comes to picking a location for engagement sessions, we usually throw the ball back into their court and ask a lot of questions. Probably, the most important question is “where did you meet?” It doesn’t always work out but in this case they had met in Washington DC and if I got the story straight, they were supposed to meet up with some friends but ended up being the only two that made it. Grand Opening!
Sort of a grand opening anyway. After months of review, testing and sleepless nights, we finally picked a new program to help us build and launch our new web site.
The Steve Beltz Photography web site is still being populated and I’m sure the layout will keep being tweaked if not re-worked all together but we finally got up and running with help from SHOWIT.
I will blog more about how this program worked for us in the not to distant future but I can say that after a slight learning curve we were able to get the new site up and running in just a couple of days. Most of that time wasn’t the programs fault but rather my ability (or lack of ability) to create a layout that we were happy with. I do want to give a shout out to Jasmine Star (wedding photographer extraordinaire) for pointing us to the SHOWIT web site.
And of course, I want to thank my partner in photography and for life, my fantastic wife Michelle for all her help getting the new site up and running. Her energy and positive attitude kept me going in the right direction. Thanks Michelle!

PhotoWalkPro
Good Morning Everyone,
I have been absent for a couple of weeks mostly because I sent all me cameras in to be cleaned. Dust on the sensor causes me to have my cameras cleaned once a year. In another post I will elaborate more on sensor dust (very common with digital cameras) and what you can do about it.
We are looking forward to tomorrow. We have an early morning engagement photo session lined up down in the DC area. Should be a lot of fun and they make a great looking couple so we should get a couple of good photos out of the trip :-)
On another note, in earlier posts I talked about taking family photo trips. It’s a lot of fun, especially when you get the kids involved. When you start talk about color, light, shadows and angles the kids really get into it and are good and looking for objects to take photos of. On this same note, Jeff Revell who has one of my favorite blogs, PhotoWalkPro, holds photo walks in towns and cites all over the U.S. He has teamed up with Scott Kelby of National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) to hold a worldwide photo walk. This is where they will hold photo walks all over the world on the same day. To learn more, click on this link: Worldwide Photo Walk

A & G Engagement Photos

Last weekend we had a great time taking engagement photos of A & G.

Engagement Photos in DC
Had some fun this weekend with a couple in DC. Nice day but very windy so we walked all over trying to find some shelter. We finally made due with a nice little setting by a pond near the Reflecting Pool.
Fortunately, the sun and the wind were both cooperating as far as direction was concerned. I used a single detached SB-800 flash to fill in some of the shaded areas. Again, like I do with most portraits, I used my long, 70mm -200mm VR lens. I stood back from the couple and used a fairly fast shutter speed which let me blur the back ground a bit.
